Personal Learning:
An important part of our preparation for adulthood curriculum, Personal learning lessons are designed to help students work on their personal development. In these sessions students work towards achieving targets that are linked to their EHCP outcomes and personal aspirations.
Work Experience:
As part of our preparation for adulthood curriculum, Post 16 students research, apply, and interview for work experience positions in one of our curriculum areas. If they are successful, they will then spend one day per week shadowing and working alongside members of Alt Bridge staff to develop key employment skills. In year 13, Students may also have the opportunity to complete external work placements to continue to develop their skills and fully immerse themselves into the working world.
In previous years, students have completed work experience in a variety of positions such as science and technology technician; catering assistant in our commercial kitchen; a variety of teaching assistant roles; administration assistant working in our school offices and library technicians in our school Library.
ASDAN:
As part of our two-strand curriculum, we offer a semi-formal curriculum for our development class in which we work towards achieving an ASDAN Personal development programme qualification. Students sit this award alongside functional skills qualifications and it is designed to cover a wide variety of topics in order to teach essential life skills and and prepare our students for a successful adult life.
