Governors

School Governors are members of a School’s Governing Body. They have responsibility for raising school standards through their three core strategic functions of:-

• Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
• Holding the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils; and
• Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.

You can contact the Governors via the school contact details.

Welcome from the Chair of Governors

20.10.22

Dear Parents/carers,

I am proud to represent Alt Bridge School as Chair of Governors. I have been a Governor at the school for 9 years.

My professional background is in education. I began my career as a primary school teacher in Haringey in 1983, and then Gateshead before moving to Knowsley in 1988. I have spent 36 years in the borough working in the Prescot and Kirkby area, in the primary school sector as teacher, Deputy Headteacher, and Headteacher. For the past thirteen years I have supported the family of schools in Kirkby working across all sectors supporting the development of education in our 14 schools.

As an Alt Bridge School governor my focus area has been on teaching and learning. I have also supported the recruitment of many staff, and the development of the school council. I have been proud to see the improvements made to many areas of the school and am determined to support the continued growth and success of Alt Bridge School to ensure the best education opportunities and wider experiences for the students.

Steve Dixon
