Curriculum Intent
At Alt Bridge, we recognise the importance of Physical Education and the role it has to play in promoting life-long healthy lifestyles. We have a dedicated team of outstanding Physical Education staff, where we believe every child matters and has the capacity to enjoy and achieve. The intent of our physical education curriculum is to provide all students with a high quality physical education and sport experience that is positive, varied and fun. It is our vision for every student to succeed and achieve their potential as well as to lead, and appreciate the benefits of physically and mentally active lifestyles. We strive to inspire our students through engaging physical education lessons that are enjoyable, challenging and accessible to all. Students will now have access to a highly differentiated and revised curriculum linked to core skills, games (team and individual), athletics activities, swimming, and health related fitness. This range of experiences is intended to provide for students increasing self confidence in their ability to manage themselves and their bodies within a variety of movement situations and to increase understanding of the importance of a healthy lifestyle. Through our teaching of Physical Education, we will provide opportunities for students to develop values and transferrable life skills such as fairness, respect, excellence, courage, determination, inspiration and equality. We also want our students to be confident, well-balanced individuals who have excellent levels of physical and mental health which we believe will lead to them achieving in all other curriculum areas in the school, and in later life.
