At Alt Bridge School, we believe that every student has the potential to succeed in mathematics. Our intent is to provide a high-quality mathematics education that is inclusive, inspiring, and tailored to meet the individual needs of our students.

Through our engaging and interactive mathematics curriculum, we aim to develop students’ mathematical fluency, problem-solving skills, and mathematical reasoning abilities. We foster a positive and supportive learning environment, where students feel safe to take risks, ask questions, and explore mathematical concepts with confidence.

Our curriculum is designed to enable students to make connections between different areas of mathematics, develop a deep understanding of mathematical concepts, and apply their knowledge to real-life situations. We use a variety of teaching strategies and resources to ensure that our lessons are accessible and meaningful for all students.

Assessment plays a crucial role in our mathematics curriculum. We use ongoing formative assessment to identify students’ strengths and areas for development, and to inform our teaching. We provide regular opportunities for students to demonstrate their understanding through practical activities, discussions, and written work.

We also recognise the importance of developing students’ mathematical language and communication skills. Our curriculum incorporates opportunities for students to explain their thinking, justify their answers, and engage in mathematical discussions with their peers.

By the end of their time at Alt Bridge School, our students will have developed a solid foundation in mathematics and will be equipped with the skills and confidence to succeed in further education, employment, and everyday life.
