Rights Respecting Schools Accreditation: Gold
Alt Bridge School have been on a journey over the last four years, working towards this prestigious award in recognition of our Rights Respecting ethos. We have embedded an education in human rights within our curriculum and throughout our provisions. Our students are extremely capable of understanding and discussing the rights of the child and how they can respect the rights of others. As our report highlighted, our school has a strong commitment to children’s rights and inclusion. We value the views of our students and provide our students with many opportunities to express their opinions and ideas. Learning about rights has had a very positive impact on our relationships throughout school. We are very proud to have achieved this award.
Alt Bridge Celebrates First Thrive Accreditation: “We Have Embraced Thrive”
We are incredibly proud to announce that Alt Bridge has received its first official Thrive accreditation — a significant milestone that recognises our commitment to supporting the emotional wellbeing and development of every student.
This achievement reflects the dedication and passion of our staff, particularly those within our Nurture Base and our qualified Thrive practitioners, who have worked tirelessly to embed the Thrive Approach across the school. Through their hard work, we’ve not only implemented a whole-school culture of emotional support, but we’ve also seen the real, tangible benefits this brings to our young people.
At Alt Bridge, we understand that for students to engage, learn and thrive, their emotional needs must be recognised and met. The Thrive Approach has given us a powerful framework to do just that. It has helped us build positive, trusting relationships and create a safe, nurturing environment where all learners feel seen, supported, and understood.
Being awarded our first accreditation is more than just a badge — it’s a validation of the journey we’ve taken. From targeted interventions to whole-school strategies, Thrive has become an integral part of how we support our pupils’ growth not just academically, but socially and emotionally too.
We are proud to say: we have embraced Thrive.
Looking ahead, we are excited to expand our Thrive provision even further. This includes the implementation of additional staff training, enabling more of our team to understand and apply Thrive principles in their day-to-day practice. We will also begin rolling out Thrive assessments for a greater number of pupils, ensuring more learners benefit from personalised support plans based on their individual social and emotional needs.
In September 2025, we will take another significant step by introducing a third Nurture class, allowing us to extend our specialist support to even more pupils in a dedicated, supportive environment.
As part of our continued commitment, we will also be offering regular 1:1 Thrive sessions for those pupils most in need — ensuring that targeted, compassionate support is available to help every child feel safe, secure, and ready to learn.
This accreditation marks the beginning of a new chapter, and we remain committed to evolving and expanding our Thrive practice. A huge thank you to our Thrive team and all members of staff who continue to champion emotional wellbeing across our school. Together, we’re not just meeting standards — we’re changing lives.
Parents Coffee Morning (Online Safety): 31st March 2025
Dear Parents, Guardians & Carers
Hope you are well and looking forward to the Easter break. We would like to invite you to a coffee morning and presentation on Online Safety at Alt Bridge School. As our children continue to engage more with digital platforms, it is essential to equip both them and ourselves with the knowledge and tools to navigate the online world safely. We are seeing a rise in incidents and issues surrounding the use of messaging platforms and social media that have been distressing to our students.
Details of the event are as follows:
Date: 31st March 2025
Time: 10:30am to 11:30am
Location: Alt Bridge School
During this session, we will be discussing key aspects of online safety, including how to protect children from online risks, understanding social media platforms, and the importance of privacy settings. There will also be practical tips on how to talk to your children about their online experiences and monitor their activities.
We encourage you to come along, ask questions, and share experiences with other parents. This is a wonderful opportunity to enhance our collective understanding of the online challenges our children face, and we believe that your participation will greatly benefit the whole school community.
Refreshments will be provided, and we look forward to seeing you there.
Please confirm your attendance by returning clicking the link below and reply online so we can ensure we have enough space and refreshments for everyone.

Gold Artsmark Award
Pupils and staff at Alt Bridge School are celebrating after receiving a prestigious Gold Artsmark Award.
Artsmark is the only creative quality standard for schools, accredited by Arts Council England. It transforms teaching through creativity, empowering teachers with the skills they need to embed arts, culture and creativity across the whole curriculum, and is proven to support pupil outcomes and wellbeing.
To achieve their Artsmark Award, Alt Bridge School had to develop their arts and cultural provision to embed a broad and ambitious curriculum. This was achieved by creating an overall plan that was committed to and delivered across the whole school.
Over two years, Alt Bridge School received professional support through an immersive learning programme from Artsmark’s delivery partner, Goldsmiths, University of London, who are world-renowned leaders in creative pedagogy and cultural placemaking.
“All pupils can access a consistent and diverse range of arts and cultural provision through work with local arts and cultural organisations, in school, and on visits outside the classroom, which leads to newly developed showcasing throughout school.” The Artsmark Assessor commended Alt Bridge School on the 29th November 2024.
