Our Aim in Science

As a National Curriculum core subject, it is the statutory requirement that pupils follow the Attainment targets and Programmes of Study in Science.

The Knowsley Curriculum Policy Statement (2014) states that: "Pupils should take part in learning activities that enable them to gain knowledge and understanding of a broad range of natural and life sciences."

The importance of Science in the Alt Bridge Curriculum is encapsulated in the aims of the School.

Achieving this Goal

All pupils in years 7, 8 and 9 follow the KS3 national curriculum in science giving them the same opportunities as their mainstream counterparts. Work is differentiated and presented in such away that pupils make good progress across all levels.

Pupil success in science at Alt Bridge has meant that all pupils embark on a program of study leading to a fully recognised formal qualification in year 10. Most pupils follow the Educe Entry Level Certificate in Science and many follow the General Certificate in State Education (GCSE) for Science combining, Physics. Chemistry and Biology.

Our operation

Provide a Continuum

The school should provide a continuum of provision to enable youngsters with special needs to have equal opportunities with their mainstream peers post-school
