Term 1

Elements of Music; Timbre and Texture , using percussion instruments to organise sound and create music. Listening to different types of sound and learning to differentiate between varying textures and qualities of sound. Using the voice to create sound and engaging in class singing activities. Exploring music from different areas of the world; Europe.

Term 2

Elements of Music; Duration and Dynamics, using all available instruments to enhance the creation and organisation of sound, together with the voice. Exploring the elements of attack and decay ; the way sounds start and stop. Engaging in class singing activities. Exploring music from different areas of the world; Africa.

Term 3

Elements of Music; Rhythm and Range , exploring the capabilities of instruments and using them to maximise the dramatic effect that music can have on groups of people,and individuals. To explore how the element of silence can enhance a performance. Exploring music from different parts of the world; South America. Record group activities using IT equipment where appropriate.
