Summer A: Public Spaces:

Pupils begin with investigating what public art is and what public art is in the area. Visiting Liverpool City Centre is a must during this investigation. This topic addresses the issue of graffiti as art or vandalism. Artists like Banksy and Blek Le Rat are researched and pupils experiment with graffiti text and imagery. Opportunity to produce pieces for display around the school grounds are provided as well as workshops both on and off site. There will be occasions where pupils will work with local communities to produce pieces for public display.

Summer B: Kandinsky/Klee

Pupils begin by creating a title page using images from Kandinsky drawing attention to shape, mark and value. Pupils are encouraged to then use layered colour drawings using abstract symbols. This investigation teaches pupils to use music to inspire their abstract pieces. Pupils then move to select and refine their images using a variety of media to create a relief. Pupils utilise I Pads and other forms of ICT to create research pages on the artists and produce digital versions of their work.
